Stuff I made
Qwerty Magazine, Issue 27
During my last year of grad school, Christina Cooke and I were chosen to serve as managing editors of Qwerty magazine. Qwerty is run out of the English department at the University of New Brunswick, with an all-volunteer staff, and has a national circulation. It’s a really big honor to have been involved at all, and it was an amazing opportunity to learn about publishing.
In addition to my work as an editor, I also served as graphic designer, and completed the layout and typesetting for Issue 27 without any previous experience in InDesign. Christina and I also took the lead on reviewing art submissions that year, and ended up with some really good pieces. Our amazing cover artist was found through Tumblr, and she custom-made the drawing you see here.
Being part of the tradition of students who worked at Qwerty is one of my warmest memories, and I’m really proud of the issue we put together.
